A recently published by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics indicated a massive need for construction workers in the months of May and June.
According to the BLS report, in June, there were over 225,000 jobs available in the construction industry throughout the United States.
This data confirms a number of recent media reports claiming the construction industry has a need for highly-skilled and highly-trained workers. In the construction industry, there are 14 major trades: boilermakers, bricklayers, carpenters, electrical workers, elevator constructors, laborers, insulators, ironworkers, operating engineers, painters, plasters and cement mason, plumbers, roofers and sheet metal workers.
Within each trade, there are sub-trades where the techniques and craftsmanship is exemplified in a specific focus.
Electrical workers, for example, primarily focus three main sub-sets of the electrical industry: residential wireman, lineman, tree trimmer, inside wireman and telecommunication VDV installer-technician.
Each one of those specific trades are in need of apprentices who want to have a successful career in the construction industry, earning a good wage, health benefits and retirement benefits.
Those benefits are in addition to a tuition-free education, which allows apprentices to earn while they learn, meaning they learn the skills and education needed to become a journeyman in their field.
